Course Information:
The Advanced Contact Improvisation course is for those who wish to deepen their understanding and exploration of the world of Contact Improvisation: Learn to fly, give and receive weight, develop our duet and solo, and meet other knowledgeable bodies along the way.
This is a process group that meets once a week for an extended session, following by a Contact Jam. The unique combination of consistent practice within a dedicated group, followed by the opportunity to apply and practice skills in an open jam space, creates a rich learning experience
The course is divided into three chapter, each with 10 lessons, focusing on a specific aspect of contact improvisation
Chapter 1 – From the floor to the sky – Falling and flying together – From floor work to various lifts, within a group that explores and progresses together.
Chapter 2 – Taking weight, being light – We will continue to explore and implement tools for lifts and sophisticated body work with weight in a multi-dimensional space.
Chapter 3- How do we fly in a jam? – We will mix all the tools we have developed into a jam space. We will learn to meet diverse partners and dance in duets, trios, and groups, we will learn scores, and together with the group we will learn to meet more daring, release, intimacy and personal expression in dance.
Course registration includes free entry to the jam on Thursdays from 8:00 PM to 10:30 PM – where you are invited to continue dancing, deepening and practicing together everything you have learned.
The course is taught by 3 teachers:
Roy Shaked, Hadar Geva, and Uri Dikcer. The teachers have extensive backgrounds in movement research, teaching, and contact improvisation, and they will combine their diverse world of knowledge for an enriching learning experience.
