Course information:
Classical Ballet for Beginners is designed for those with no previous background in ballet, as well as for those who learned ballet in childhood and stopped. The course allows us to learn ballet technique from the very basics. Studying and training in ballet technique strengthens and develops movement abilities that also support individuals who want to develop in other movement areas such as contemporary dance in its various forms, partner dances like tango, and even contact improvisation. Ballet study is a unique experience for anyone who dreams of dancing and wants to start – at any age.
Ballet lessons take place partly at the barre and partly without the barre, either in the center of the studio or throughout the space.
We start each lesson with warming up the body and preparing it for movement work. We learn foot positions and steps, how to follow floor patterns, work on coordination between hands and feet, learn turns and spins, jumps, transitions between legs, and more. We strengthen the arch of the foot and the entire foot, work on core strength, develop coordination, and work on our musicality. We end each lesson with a segment of stretching and flexibility – preparing for a renewed encounter with the fast pace of our lives (cool down).
